Welcome back to school
I am excited to have so many new students this year! Reading is my main area of study so I am thrilled to be teaching reading to sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. I will be working in the morning only so e-mail is the best way to reach me. We have many new things going on this year I can't wait to share. I'm so glad you chose Kelly Middle School. We are going to have a great year!!!

September we will spend some time getting to know each other and learn more about the PBIS program. We will begin to practice for MEAP the second week of school. Students will need a pencil case with pencils and a checking pen daily. In our new STAR (Students Taking Academic Responsibility) we will spend some time getting organized and taking a look at time management as well as other skills for success. This will get you off to a good start. Remember to pack you backpack and ID the night before you go to school so if you are running late in the morning you will not forget. Also, setting up a quiet place to study is a great idea to start off with good work habits. Students will need to get a novel to read from home, from a friend, teacher or from a library to read during silent reading and free time. Novels should be age appropriate.
Parent portal is set up and ready to go so you can see your progress in class. Grades will be updated every few days. Writing assignments may take a few days. This is a great tool to track your progress. Please get your password from the office if you have not yet at this time.
